Cyprus is fortunate enough to have one of the most pleasant climates in Europe with an average of 11 months of the year enjoying brilliant sunshine and is regarded as climatically being one of the healthiest regions of the World.
Larnaca enjoys a mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine all year round where the long dry summers and mild winters are separated by short autumn and spring seasons. Although the winters in Cyprus are mild, it does bring some rain and snow on the Troodos mountains with average temperatures of around 10 degrees celsius on the mainland.
The summer in Larnaca is a time of very high temperatures with cloudless skies although the sea breeze can create a very pleasant atmosphere in the coastal areas. Average maximum temperatures range between 36 degrees celsius throughout the mainland to 27 degrees celsius in areas such as the Troodos mountains. As the sunshine during the day is very strong it is recommended to always carry sun protection and to keep out of direct sunlight between the hours of 12.00 - 3.00pm.
Very cool, cotton clothes are the most comfortable for the hot summer months. Light sweaters and jackets may be required for the evenings during May and June, September and October and warm clothes are worn during the winter months.
Do not forget to bring your sunglasses while in Cyprus and especially if you are hiring a car as they will be an indispensable item due to the intense brightness of the sunshine.
